United Methodist Women

UMWLogo.jpg

Our United Methodist Women's group may be small, but we enjoy our times of fellowship and working together to help our church and community.  Our monthly meetings have transitioned to "Ladies Night Out," which are held at different restaurants throughout the area.  We enjoy spending time together over dinner.  We also use this time to discuss upcoming events and projects.  We also occasionally attend the Harrisonburg District "Evenings Together," where we enjoy meeting women from other area United Methodist Churches.

We work together to earn money for outreach programs within the community.  For many years we have prepared Health and School Kits to send to Annual Conference.  The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) sends these kits to areas in crisis.  Each November, we participate in the UMW "Thank Offering," with money going to mission projects of the Conference UMW.  We also enjoy helping out local organizations, such as Camp Overlook, Western State Hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and the West Rockingham Food Bank.

Purpose of United Methodist Women

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
